Hi, I’m Joyce, a proud Seattleite who has a ton of love for all things Pacific Northwest—hiking, climbing, smoked salmon, and painting.

Beyond the Brush is a way to show my lifelong love of the outdoors and painting.

A couple years ago, I started bringing watercolors on my hiking and backpacking trips. Some days, this meant I’d paint while sitting atop a boulder. On other days, it meant painting from my hammock with a mug full of lake water between my knees.

Fast forward to today—here’s my attempt, with the help of my closest friends, to capture these adventures and make moments last.
